Sprint Tuned S998 Nissan Skyline Nür

Sprinter7804's Nissan Skyline Nür at Motegi

I've always been a fan of cars tuned by Sprinter7804, aka LikeMike22. So I asked for, and received, a preview copy of his S-Class Nissan Skyline Nür, tuned for Motegi.

I want to start by mentioning again that S-Class cars are too fast for me. I just can't seem to come to grips with them around most tracks.

This is obvious at Tsukuba, where my previous best of 52.512 was good for 829th place on the leaderboard. Since this time could stand to be improved, I took the Nür and loaded up the test equipment.

I knew the car was going to be fast, because I caught my G&R 'Kuba Killer ghost on the first lap. Driving the Nür like a TE, however, proved sketchy and clumsy. I made a few laps before I got the hang of it, but it seemed like every lap time was .200 or more into the green. A quick check of the times found I easily rattled off a 51.533, good for 113 on the leaderboards.

So the car was outstanding to be sure, but how much would I improve my 40.6 on the short track?

One thousand and sixty-four places, to be exact.

I went from 40.600m 1297th on the leaderboards, to 39.562, 233rd on the leaderboards, on the second lap! There is easily more time to be trimmed, but I will revisit that later.

Skyline Nür in action

Back at Motegi, the car proved just as fast, knocking one full second of my previous best at Motegi West. My 34.782 put me at 194th on the leaderboards. Jed and Sprinter are both in the top 75 on this track, so I wasn't surprised. JED also holds the #1 (!) time at Motegi East in this very car.

The tune on this car is probably the best S-Class car I've ever driven, for my driving style.

If there was one thing I would change on this car, it would be the paint. Turns out, I'll get my chance.

The Standard Edition paint leaves a little bit to be desired in the garage. Beauty is sometimes in the eye of the beholder, and for me, the red and metallic yellow/ gold seemed to clash a little. A minimilistic approach to decals doesn't really help matters.

Once on the track, the car looks much better, partly because of the excellent tune. It photographs well on the track and won't be mistaken for someone else's car. The SE design does have it's pluses though, like the nifty shine-through effect for the Sprint Tuned logo.

Those not happy with the paint, however, can seek out the Limited Edition car. 5 LE's will be built, 1 each day on the AH for 5 days. They will be no-buyout style, with 24 hour listings starting Friday, January 4th according to the press release.

Those unable to secure an LE model will still be able to acquire a special paint, but it won't be overly easy.

The Masters of Motegi Edition will feature a special color of the LE livery, and will be available to anyone who can post a certain time on one of three specific Motegi tracks using the SE Nür. This is a nice touch, and this is one tester who will make a few runs at it in the interest of fun. Check the link to the "for sale" thread below for details, track and time information.

To say I am pleased with this car is an understatement. This is one of the few cars I have actively sought to use as my personal tune for a model. I'm not sure if the Nür tune will transfer to the regular R34 Skyline, but my MTMU car is about to find out! I also have plans to ask Sprinter for one of his Evo's. Everything else Sprint Tuned has been perfect for my driving style, and this one is no exception.
