Catv Coaxial

Should I run CAT5 wiring to my bedroom from the basement or should I run a second CATV run to my bedroom?
I have satellite TV and the high speed internet signal and the satellite signal don’t play nice on the same Coaxial Cable run. Is it better to run CAT5 from the basement where the router/switch will be, or run a cable to the bedroom and put the cable modem, router/switch there?
What is the best way for me to run this? I can’t drill in from the outside of the building, so that is out of the question. I was planning on running down the indie of the cold air return for the furnace system. Good or bad idea?
I had / have wireless, and it is just too slow and unreliable.
The type of cable you should use in this situation depends on what would be more convenient to you. Would you like the networking equipment to be close to the computer? Or would you like it somewhere else that’s out of the way? A benefit to having it nearby is that you can restart the equipment rather quickly if you need to, so in that case, Coax Cable. If you like to keep your networking equipment in one location, then CAT-5 or CAT-6 will do the trick.
As far as running the cable, I’m more of a hands-on guy, so I can’t give you a specific answer. I’ve run cables down cold air returns, but I generally try to run them behind walls and through attics as much as possible. Keep in mind that it’s important to use cables with plenum coating if you’re going to be working around sources of heat.
